"Lars and the Real Girl" was an amazing film that taught about human kindness along with humor on the side. It is directed by Craig Gillespie who directed tv commercials for 16 years and written by Nancy Oliver who was the writer of the award-winning tv series "Six feet under". Starring Ryan Gosling, who played Lars Lindstrom, a man whose intensely lonely and barely stand the touch of other human being that kept him from embracing what life has to offer. The result of isolating himself lead him to order a life-size sex doll. Shockingly Lars did not treat her like an anatomically correct sex doll instead he treated the doll as a human being , a partner and a companion. He named her Bianca. What grabbed my attention is that how the people of Lar's community accepted Bianca and treated her with the same courtesy that Lars does. The community involved Bianca in every activities that were out there including as a volunteer at a hospital. This movie was very intriguing that its irresistible for viewers to not enjoy it. While others viewed the film as a strangely romantic movie, most thought of it as a heartfelt film that showed how others executed their human kindness. Like Lars' brother and sister-in-law supported him and so did the whole community show deep and sweet hearted treatment to both Lars and Bianca. The community could have easily rejected Lar's awkward behavior but most of them were more concerned. There are 2 message that "Lars and the Real Girl" was trying to reach upon the viewers. First is acceptance, few people first did not accept what Lars is going through, most of them were trying to talk behind his back but later on they realized how one's acceptance and kindness could benefit others especially Lars. Second is hope. There is a hidden hope in the story. Hope from Lars' family and friends that someday Lars would finally end his delusion and face the real world. His family and the community did not give up on him and kept their hope alive. This film reminded me of how our church can be very judgmental towards others who may not seem too good enough to their eyes, but some people of the church still hold their human kindness to treat others equally and supported them. It is the same how God supports us even when we don't embrace life.
