The Story Of Stuff
The story of Stuff was launched on December 4, 2007 by Annie Leonard, and Lewis Fox. This informative film incorporated many techniques to attract the audiences attention. For example, by providing demonstrations through drawings, visualizing the actual process of what our products are made from were made much easier to comprehend.
However, people in varying social classes may view this film differently. A wealthy individual from the suburbs may not be so much affected by this film, whereas an individual coming from a destitute neighborhood might identify with it more clearly. Usually wealthier people buy things with no remorse, while less fortunate people understand the affects of natural resources depleting.
Ultimately this film was created to be a wake up call to everybody. By watching this film, I got three things out of it. First, I realized that we as society, depend and rely on materialistic things too often. In today’s world nothing is made or created naturally anymore, everything has been industrialized in a sense that we do not value our natural resources.
Secondly, I saw that Americans will do anything to keep up with the latest styles and technologies, no matter what the cost or price having to be paid to distribute the product. Lastly, I clearly recognized all of the harm that we are causing our planet to go through. The products that we purchase, like I said before, are created from destroying most of our natural resources; thus polluting the earth even more.
This film was necessary because it can inform a lot of us on how, and what our products are being made from. I found this film to be related spiritually in a way that God created our natural resources and they are not going to be replaced, so we really need to take care of the ones we have.
